The Shias have always been, since time immemorial, one of the most bizarre followers of disbelief that existed, who have always attributed themselves upon the religion of Islaam. They have cultured their religion upon the notion that they are the best of all creations and also the fact that they have thought to believe that the Imam Mahdi was upon them. The 12th Imam, considered to be the Imam Mahdi by many Shias is a total deceptive idea they have been injecting their followers since they have started their faith. The Shia Hadith in Al-Kafi – considered to be the most reliable of the four Shia books of Shia Hadeeth – states the following in regards to the 12th Imam.
(note that this is their belief of the 12th Imam and they falsely claim to be Imam Mahdi)
Ali bin Ibraheem narrated from his father, from Ibn Abi Umayr from Mansuwr, from Fadl al-Awr, from Abi Ubaidah that:
“When the Qaem of the household of the Prophet appears, he will rule according to rule of David and Solomon”.
Muhammad bin Yahya from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Muhammad bin Sinaan-Abaan reported:
“I heard Abu Abdullah (as) saying: ‘The world will not fade away unless a person from us appears who will rule according to the rule of the family of David”.
Ahmad bin Mahran (ra) from Muhammad bin Ali from Ibn Mahboob from Hishaam bin Salim from Ammar as Sabaati reported:
“I asked Imam Abu Abdullah (as): ‘By what will you rule?’; He replied: ‘By the rule of God, and by the rule of David”.
Furthermore, the 12th Imam which the shias consider to be the Mahdi will also speak in Hebrew:
Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Sa’eed al Uqdah said: Ali bin al-Hasan at-Taymali said: al-Hassan and Muhammad, the sons of Ali bin Yusuf from Sa’daan bin Muslim, from rajaal, from Al-Mufadhaal bin Umar said: Abu Abdullaah (as) reported:
“When the Imam Mahdi calls out, he will supplicate to God in Hebrew”. (al-Ghaybaa of an-Numani, p.326)
And the Shias also proclaimed that the Jews will also be among the followers of Imam Mahdi:
Sheikh al-Mufeed reported in his al-Irshaad from al-Mufadhaal bin Umar that Imam Abu Abdullaah (as) reported that:
“There will appear along with Imam Mahdi…people from the tribe of Moses”. (al-Irshaad of al-Mufeed at-Tusi p. 402)
According to Shia Hadith in Al-Kafi, the Hidden Imam learns from a book called al-Jafr, which contains the knowledge from the Israelites:
“The Imams (as) remained silent for a while and then said, ‘With us there is al-Jafr (the parchment). What do they know what al-Jafr is?’ I then asked, ‘What is al-Jafr (the parchment or a container)?’ The Imams (as) said, ‘It is a container made of skin that contains the knowledge of the prophets and the executors of their wills and the knowledge of the scholars in the past from the Israelites.” (al-Kafi, Hadith 635, Ch. 40)
In other words, there are 4 possible points that are present here in their belief of the Imam Mahdi or known to be the 12th Imam.
- He will rule according to the system of the family of David using the Talmud.
- His language will be Hebrew.
- His followers will be from the Jews and Israelites, thus the king of the Jews.
- He will learn from the Talmud which is contained in the “al-Jafr”.
With these four different points that we could gather from the Shia belief of the 12th Imam (Imam Mahdi), we should try to distinguish how does these points compare to the belief of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah.
From the Musnad of Imam Ahmad 5099, it was said that the Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) said in a hadeeth that Allaah will grant the Muslims victory over Dajjal and will kill him along with his shia (followers). When the shia (followers) of Dajjal will hide behind a tree or stone, then the tree and the stone will say to the Muslim that there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Try to check the hadeeth for yourself, it actually uses the word “shia” to describe the followers of Dajjal.
Anas bin Malik reported that Allaah’s Messger (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) said: “The Dajjal would be followed by seventy thousand Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls”. (Sahih Muslim 2944).
The said hadeeth above describes the fact it was not Imam Mahdi (or the 12th Imam) who will have Jewish followers but Dajjal and they will have Persian Shawls and the present day Iran was once the former land called Persia.
And also in the Sunan of Abi Dawod 4072, the Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) said:“To every Ummah there is a magian and the magian of this ummah are those who reject the Qadr (pre-destination). If anyone amongst them dies, do not attend their funeral, and if anyone amongst them becomes sik, don’t visit them and they are shiatul dajjal…”
The Shia have always described the 12th Imam (Imam Mahdi) to be locked up or hidden somewhere and will only be showing himself until the right time has come. This belief does really sound familiar to the stand of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah, but it wasn’t Imam Mahdi who is locked up and hidden. In the narration reported from Sahih Bukhari coming from Tamim ad-Darri, the Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) has promised that the Jewish Dajjal will also be locked away somewhere and hidden from the world.
Therefore, it is somewhat safe to conclude, as the texts suggests that the 12th Imam of the Shia belief is actually a typical description of the Dajjal. That is how their books suggest it to be.
